Reading logs have long been a cornerstone of reading instruction, but their significance extends beyond reading comprehension to writing proficiency. This paper explores the meaning and types of reading logs, their impact on the writing process, and their transformation in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) age. Relying on copious literature, the paper discusses how traditional reading logs enhance writing fluency, critical thinking, and meta-cognition. In addition, it examines AI-powered tools that offer personalized feedback. The analysis reveals that reading logs remain a vital instructional strategy, fostering a deeper understanding of text and writing skills. It concludes by highlighting best practices for implementing reading logs in the classroom and future directions for research and development in this area. Recommendations were made that educators should integrate AI technologies in reading logs, the different types of reading logs and reflective writing in order to improve students’ writing proficiency.
